Not only is this the best tasting natural whey, but it is also from grass-fed, non-rgbh/hormone cows. I used to use Nutrition Designer whey, but that is a mixture of whey concentrate plus isolate. Designer Protein uses ion exchange to isolate their whey, which is not as good. (I would put links to explain this but Amazon would remove them.) Furthermore, Next Nutrition Designer Whey uses sucralose and acesulfame k as sweeteners, which are unnatural, man-made chemicals I'd rather not ingest.

Jay Robb mixes well when I use a shaker cup, and certainly mixes well when I use a blender.

If I had to buy some whey and I could not get Jay Robb, I guess I'd go with BioChem. Their powders are created using the same type of technology, taste almost as good and are cheaper. They do have 4 grams of sugar, whereas Jay Robb has none. This is good and bad -- good because BioChem can use less Stevia for a sweetener, and bad because I don't want extra sugar. I don't mind stevia in small quantities - it is safe, natural and does the job, but you can detect it if you are a sensitive taster. I am used to it, though, and it is not very detectable in most of the Jay Robb powders.

The only downside of this brand of whey is that it is very expensive. There are some places online that discount it -- even some merchants here on Amazon, but many do use retail pricing.

It would be easy to say that this Protein shake doesn't taste good, but compared to what? So far in my 10 years of trying proteins and shakes, I can tell you that the best tasting 2 have been Muscle Milk and EAS Whey Protein. But Muscle Milk isn't a Protein Shake - its a Meal Replacement Shake and it contains a lot sugars which adds a lot of taste. In protein powders I have tried Cytosport's Evopro, that GNC protein stuff, Optimum Nutrition's Protein, and Isopro's Protein.

So far - EAS Whey Protein is the best tasting chocolate shake even when it has only 1 gram of sugar and 3 grams of carbs per serving. EAS When Protein is also the easiest to mix and to clean off your cup. In fact you can just leave your cup sit in water for 10 minutes and all the left over will dissolve to the bottom of your cup.

After going through Optimum Nutrition Gold and NOW Foods Whey Isolates, I decided to try something a bit cheaper that had good reviews. This is an incredible value ($36 shipped for 5#) for a protein that isn't high in fat or cholesterol, packs in plenty of protein and BCAA's, and actually blends perfectly! No granules left over to get stuck in my teeth, it is by far the best blending powder I have tried.

Mixed with water, the chocolate tastes as you would expect - nothing special, but it could certainly be A LOT worse. I don't know why some people deduct points because it doesn't taste like Godiva. Its whey protein, its not supposed to taste good. The fact it is not undrinkable like some proteins is an accomplishment, but this is a decent tasting mix. Blend it with milk and it passes as chocolate milk.

Im not a scientist or a body builder, just someone who weight trains with cardio on a low carb diet and needs extra protein. It has been perfectly effective, I feel replenished after workouts and have noticed good muscle growth and recovery. I will be going back to this product for a long, long time.
